oh...what to tell...what to tell...

Josey is just such an amazing little girl. I know, I know I am her mommy and a little biased but I just think she is so funny and incredible.

Let's see...

Her hand is healing very well. You can barely tell that she even got burned...thank goodness. She was really good with the healing process, she would pull the dead skin off her self. UGH! We had to stop her sometimes though because she would pick and it was not all ready sometimes...then it would hurt. She was good about making a fist for us, so that it would not stiffen up, and keep it moving. I was amazed at her healing abilities after her surgery and still am after this healing...

She talks constantly...and I know I say that all the time but she is always chatting. She is so curious about her world. Constantly asking questions....honestly this gets exhausting sometimes since this means we are constantly answering her, and sometimes two and three times with the same questions. But oh well...I would not know what to do if she was a really quiet kid since I am a talker myself!

She gets up in the morning and says, "It's a sunny day Mommy. It's a sunny day!" She is always wanting to wake daddy up with the same statement but we try to let him sleep in for a bit. :) She likes to look out the windows when we drive and point out all that she sees and she is pretty specific. If I call a van a car I will get corrected, "No Mommy that is not a car. That is a van." Well ok then!

Her new one too is, "can we talk about it?" If I tell her no she cannot have candy for instance. She will say, "Maybe in a bit we can talk about it?" Because then maybe I will change my mind and let her. Too funny!

We are having some road construction done right outside our home. There is a huge trench in the road that we have to drive over. They have placed some metal strips over it that make a lot of noise when we drive over them. Every time we do she asks, "Mommy what is that sound?" Well when Daddy is with us he will say, "Everybody look what's going down." Like the song..."hey, hey what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down." Well he has done this a few times but she has now picked it up. The past few days have been trying for me...I am soooo tired.(read my Omigosh!Twins! blog for an update) so the other day I just could not answer her AGAIN about what that was, I know bad mommy! So I just asked her, "What is that sound Josey?" And she pipes up from her seat, "Everybody look what's going down!" With this big ol' grin on her face! So adorable.

She is going through a growth spurt I think...she has been eating like crazy lately. Funny thing about her, and I have blogged before, but she will eat about anything. I am so glad that she is not picky but I am even surprised sometimes at her food choices. A current fave of hers is Cream of Chicken and Wild Rice soup! I get her her own bowl if go eat at Panera for lunch and she will eat the whole thing. I do not think I like that particular soup until I was in my 20's! So funny!

Well I am sure there is more but I have to go lay down now...will blog more about her later. I hope you are all doing well...continue to watch for updates....we will be home more so I will try to update more. and here is a funny picture....

I am terrible!

Josey is doing well and growing great! We keep pretty busy so I have not blogged on her for a while. She goes to bed and I normally follow....and her naptime is now mine. With her two little siblings growing nicely in my tummy I am tired often so I take advantage of EVERY oppurtunity to sleep when I can.

some updates....

She is talking even more, if that is possible, than ever. Constantly. It is fun and sometimes exhausting. Her new thing is to look at the clock....wait. Her first new thing is to get up at 6:30 am which I could do without! :) BUT anyway then about 7:30, which is when Daddy's alarm is about to go off, she says, "It is time for Daddy now Mommy! Can I go knock on the door?" Then she will proceed to our bedroom and knock until Daddy answers. We open the door and I let her in to see Daddy. She is such a Daddy's girl! Loves her Daddy.

Not so much fun....she got second degree burns on her right hand a couple of weeks ago. On June 27th she was playing in a fire/ash pile in the backyard. We had not burned anything for a couple of days in there so we were not concerned. She managed of course to find hot coals and ended up with second degree burns on her right fingers. Her index finger was worst. There were burns however on the rest of her fingers as well. We placed her hand in cold water and then tried to decided whether to take her to the hospital or not, not being too sure yet how bad it was. When we tried to take her little hand out of the water she would freak out crying, who can blame her, and beg us to put it back in. We decided that we had to take her in. A few hours later and a shot of morphine for Josey we find out that they are indeed second degree burns and we have to bandage her little hand up like a glove and leave it that way for a while until the blisters pop and the hand can be debreded(doc speak for removing the dead burned skin.) This means no swimming and playing because we need to keep it dry and clean and the blisters in tact as long as possible. Here are some of the early shots...

You can see how big her little index finger was...
And of course her bunny had to have a bandage too....although it did not last long.

So on Saturday we went to change her bandage and noticed that her major blister had popped so we decided that on Sunday we would take her in to the ER again to have them do the debreding(doc speak for torture I now know!) We took her in and they proceeded to cut the dead skin off her finger....this was a hellish process. She was crying, apparently some parts of this process hurt her, and the skin was coming off bloody in spots. I tried hard not to pass out, I have never reacted to the sight of blood this way BUT it was my baby girls blood you know? And she was obviously in pain which no parent likes to see. Daddy was even grimacing. They decided to stop that process and told us that they wanted us to take her to the local University hospital burn unit. This of course scares us into wondering why...but basically with her age and the fact that the burn went all the way around her finger they wanted to be sure we did the right thing. Ok we say...no problem. We get an appt. for the next day and go on about our Sunday.

Next day we go to the burn appt. I am ready for a marathon, I think that part of the plan is more debreding and some exams etc. We have been to the University for numerous reasons and while I trust their medical knowledge and expertise I know that a short appt. can become an all day deal...it can sometimes! I go down with extra clothes for her, a ton of diapers, snacks and am prepared to stay the night if we have to! Yeah maybe I over reacted a bit! :0) We get down there, get taken to an exam area and the nurse takes off Josey's bandage. SHe looks at her fingers/hand and says, "she is fine." The skin on her finger was pink and shiny which is apparently a good thing, means new skin was growing, and otherwise all looked good. We were in and out of there in 20 minutes! That was the shortest appt we have EVER had and we have been going there for almost 4 years! But how great to know that she was fine! Here is an after shot of the hand....and it looks even better now.

Well, Josey is wanting some one on one time with Mommy so I am going to close this. I will update later this week/end with some more info...she is just too funny these days and I want to tell you all about it! But the burn is the biggest thing in our world lately! :) More later...love to all!
Here is Josey feeding horses at Grandma Janes...

and here she seems to be addressing her people!

Row, Row the Boat....

Josey has learned to sing Row your Boat. She sings it pretty well, forgetting some words of course but she sings it! I just think it is adorable. She also sings Twinkle Star, her A,B,C's and Ring around the Rosey. I just love that she sings these songs! The bestest part, yeah I know that bestest is not a word, is that she sings to the babies. Yes folks she sings to her unborn siblings. Too Cute! and it is normally two or three choruses. No single song for her! The best part is that she has to have my tummy totally bare. She will pull up my shirt and down the maternity panel pants I normally wear and then sing to my bare belly. Sometimes into my belly button as though it were a microphone. She also tickles the babies through my belly button....I think she thinks if she sticks her finger in there far enough she may just actually touch them! I have to stop her though, my belly button is quickly disappearing and there is not a whole lot of room to stick her finger!

Her other favorite thing to do with the babies is to tell my tummy, "I am your big sister Josey!" These babies will definitely know who she is when they appear!

Anyway....I just had to post about this adorable little girl and her love for her siblings who she has only seen on an u/s screen. We will see how things go when they are here and able to make noise and take mommy's attention but overall I think she is excited to be a big sister and hoping she will adjust accordingly.
